A taste of wilderness

A natural part of an 'opptur' is a good meal. Food from the wilderness, prepared in the wilderness and served in the wilderness. By a crackling campfire under open skies, in a cozy 'gapahuk' (half-open tent) or in a nice and warm 'lavvo' (tent used by the native Norwegians). That's when food really tastes good.

We serve our food on freshly cut birch-plates and on china. Plastic cutlery or paper plates are never a part of an 'opptur'. Good food should not be spoiled.

When we say 'food from the wilderness', we mean game and fish. Moose, beaver, salmon, berries and forest mushrooms. Most of this in all possible variations, as entrées or main courses. Everything from marinated meat or fish to filets prepared on a barbeque or in a boilingpit. Or if you would like it a bit simpler - a good soup or a tasty stew.

Our chef does most of the cooking out in the open with our guests present, enhancing the experience of the food.

Every meal ends with a cup of 'real' coffee, made on the fire.

Then you can say you've been having an outdoors meal.
